SAINT CATHERINE’S MONASTERY
Located at the foot of Mount Sinai, Saint Catherine’s Monastery is one of the oldest continuously operating Christian monasteries in the world. Built in the 6th century, it is revered for its biblical connections, as the site where Moses is believed to have encountered the burning bush.
The monastery’s library is a treasure trove of ancient manuscripts, second only to the Vatican in its collection of early Christian texts. It also houses an impressive collection of icons, many of which date back to the Byzantine era.
As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Saint Catherine’s Monastery attracts pilgrims and tourists from around the globe. Its enduring spiritual and historical significance makes it a symbol of faith and devotion, bridging the past and present.
