The Spirit of Faith

Preached by Apostle Joshua Selman

Greetings in the mighty name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ! Today, I bring to you a word that will inspire, empower, and equip you to live a life that reflects the greatness of God's Kingdom. We are here to discuss the powerful, transformative Spirit of Faith—a faith that goes beyond mere belief. It is a faith that moves mountains, performs miracles, and leads us into a life of obedience and service to others, particularly as we engage in the responsibilities of leadership and business. I pray that as we go through this message, you will not only hear but experience the spirit of faith rising within you, igniting a passion for God's will and the advancement of His Kingdom on Earth.

Introduction: The Power of Faith in the Life of a Believer

Faith is one of the cornerstones of the Christian life. Without it, it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). But the faith I am speaking about today is not just a passive belief; it is an active force, a Spirit of Faith, that compels us to take action, to obey God, and to trust Him fully in every area of our lives.

Apostle Joshua Selman, the man of God through whom this word has been delivered, teaches us that faith is not just about what we say but about what we do. Faith is the currency of the Kingdom of God, and without it, we cannot walk in the fullness of God's promises.

In 2 Corinthians 4:13, the Apostle Paul says, "We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak." This is a faith that speaks and acts. It is a faith that is rooted in belief but grows into action and obedience. The Spirit of Faith is what gives us the courage to step out into the unknown, trusting that God is with us every step of the way.

Faith in Action: A Call to Obedience

Apostle Selman often emphasizes that faith without works is dead (James 2:26). This means that our faith must be visible in our actions. We cannot claim to believe in God's promises while failing to act in obedience to His Word.

Consider the example of Noah. When God told him to build an ark, Noah did not hesitate. He obeyed, even though he had never seen rain before (Genesis 6:13-22). His obedience was a demonstration of his faith in God's Word. Similarly, God is calling us today to take action in our lives, to obey His voice, and to walk in His ways, even when the circumstances do not make sense.

This is especially important in the context of business and leadership. As business leaders, entrepreneurs, and individuals who have been entrusted with influence, we are called to be stewards of God's resources. Our businesses are not just platforms for personal gain but are instruments for advancing God's Kingdom. We are called to lead with integrity, to make decisions that honor God, and to serve others through our work.

Faith and Service to Others: The Heart of God’s Kingdom

In Matthew 20:26-28, Jesus teaches us that greatness in the Kingdom of God is measured by our willingness to serve others. "But whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; and whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant." This is a radical shift from the world's definition of success. The world measures greatness by power, wealth, and status, but Jesus calls us to greatness through humility, service, and sacrifice.

Apostle Selman often reminds us that the true spirit of faith is demonstrated in how we serve others. When we have the Spirit of Faith, we do not see people as obstacles or competitors; we see them as opportunities to demonstrate the love and power of God. This mindset should permeate every aspect of our lives, including our work, businesses, and leadership roles.

As business leaders, we are responsible for more than just the success of our companies. We are responsible for the welfare of our employees, the well-being of our customers, and the impact we make in the communities where we operate. This is where the Spirit of Faith becomes so powerful. It is not just about making money or achieving personal success; it is about using our resources, influence, and abilities to serve others and advance the will of God on Earth.

The Responsibility of Business Leaders in Advancing God’s Will

The Bible makes it clear that everything we do, whether in business or any other area of life, should be done for the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31). As entrepreneurs, leaders, and professionals, we have been given the opportunity to reflect God's glory through our work. We are not just building businesses; we are building God's Kingdom.

Apostle Selman often speaks about the need for believers to operate with kingdom-mindedness. This means that our businesses, decisions, and actions should align with God's purposes. It means making decisions that reflect integrity, excellence, and a commitment to God's will. When we live with kingdom-mindedness, we understand that our success is not for our own glory but for the advancement of God's Kingdom.

In the story of Joseph, we see a powerful example of a believer who excelled in the marketplace. Joseph's faith in God and his ability to serve others, even in the midst of hardship, led him to become the second-in-command in Egypt (Genesis 41:46). His success was not just about personal achievement but about God's purposes being fulfilled through his life.

Similarly, as business leaders, we must recognize that our success is not just for us. God has placed us in positions of influence so that we can bring about change in the world. Whether through providing jobs, creating products that benefit society, or serving our communities, we have a responsibility to use our resources for God's glory.

The Role of Faith in Leadership

Leadership is one of the most significant areas where the Spirit of Faith must be demonstrated. In the Bible, we see numerous examples of leaders who trusted in God's guidance and saw miraculous results. One such leader is King David, who faced countless challenges but relied on God’s faithfulness. In 1 Samuel 17, David's faith in God gave him the courage to face Goliath, and through God's power, he was victorious.

Apostle Selman teaches us that effective leaders are those who lead with faith, trust in God's guidance, and are committed to serving others. True leadership is not about exerting control or seeking power; it is about leading with humility, wisdom, and a heart to serve.

In our businesses, ministries, and communities, we are called to be leaders who inspire faith in others. We must lead by example, demonstrating integrity, compassion, and a commitment to God's purposes. As we lead with the Spirit of Faith, we will see God’s miraculous provision, wisdom, and favor in every area of our lives.

Call to Action: Aligning Our Lives with God’s Will

As we come to the close of this message, I want to encourage you to reflect on the areas of your life where you need to activate the Spirit of Faith. What are the decisions you need to make? What actions do you need to take to align your life with God's will?

  1. Faith in Action: Take a step of faith today. If you are in business, make a decision to align your company’s goals with God's Kingdom. Start making decisions that reflect His values—integrity, service, and excellence. In your personal life, step out in faith, trusting that God will guide you.
  2. Serve Others: The Spirit of Faith calls us to serve others. In your work, leadership, and personal relationships, ask God to show you how you can serve those around you. Whether it's through acts of kindness, offering help to those in need, or using your influence for good, let your life be a reflection of God's love and power.
  3. Repentance and Restoration: If you have not been walking in obedience to God's will, now is the time to repent and restore your relationship with Him. Ask for His forgiveness and commit to living according to His principles.
  4. Commitment to Kingdom Principles: Renew your commitment to advancing God's Kingdom in every area of your life. Whether you are in business, ministry, or any other field, let your work be a tool for God’s glory. Ask God to give you the wisdom and strength to be a faithful steward of His resources.

Call to Salvation and Repentance

Finally, if you are listening today and you have not yet accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, I want to give you an opportunity to do so. The Spirit of Faith begins with surrendering your life to Jesus Christ. He is the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). If you desire to experience the power of faith in your life, the first step is to accept Jesus as your Savior.

Say this prayer with me: "Lord Jesus, I believe that You died for my sins and rose again. I confess that You are my Lord and Savior. Come into my heart and transform my life. I receive Your Spirit of Faith today. In Jesus' name, Amen."

If you prayed that prayer, welcome to the family of God! Your faith journey begins now.

Conclusion

The Spirit of Faith is a powerful force that can transform your life, your business, and your world. It calls you to believe, to act, and to serve others. As you align your life with God's will, you will see miracles unfold in your actions, decisions, and obedience. May the Spirit of Faith guide you, empower you, and lead you into a life of victory, service, and Kingdom advancement.

God bless you all. Amen.
